1. Component Overview¶

The Login Page of the OWASP Bug Logging Tool (BLT) application is designed to authenticate users and grant them access to the platform's functionalities. Its primary purpose is to ensure secure access to the application by verifying user credentials. The page also provides options for new users to sign up and for existing users to recover their passwords, ensuring a smooth and user-friendly authentication process.

2. User Interaction¶

Users interact with the Login Page in several steps: 1. Entering Credentials: Users input their username and password in the respective fields. 2. Remember Me Option: Users can check the "Remember me" box to stay logged in on their current device. 3. Forgot Password: Users who have forgotten their password can click the "Forgot Password?" link to initiate the password recovery process. 4. Logging In: Clicking the "Log in" button submits the entered credentials for authentication. 5. Alternative Login Options: Users can log in using their GitHub, Google, or Facebook accounts by clicking the respective buttons. 6. Sign Up: New users can click the "Get Started!" link to create a new account.

3. Key Elements¶

For example, if the username or password is missing, an error message is displayed immediately. - Error Messages: Clear and concise error messages are displayed next to the relevant fields, guiding users to correct their input. For instance, if the entered credentials are incorrect, an error message will indicate this and prompt the user to try again. - Forgot Password Process: If users forget their password, the recovery process is straightforward and involves receiving an email with instructions to reset the password, ensuring users can regain access to their accounts.
